Merry Christmas

It is December 25.  The year went by so very quickly.  Seems like we just celebrated Christmas yesterday, but another year has gone by.   To everyone who has followed my blog, best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a fabulous year ahead.   Christmas is the best time of the year because we have so much to celebrate and be thankful for.   It is also a time to reflect on our achievements and possible setbacks during the year.   The positives should outweigh the negatives but if not, next year will be better.

A positive attitude brought me a successful career and a happy family.

What more could one ask for in life?   There is no snow in the forecast for this Christmas and while it won’t be white, it will still be wonderful surrounded by family, especially the grandchildren.  We’ve spent weeks finding presents, wrapping presents, and decorating the tree, and now the day has arrived.   They will all be here in a little while and the house will be filled with the noise of the grandchildren (and I do mean noise) as they try to hold back their excitement about opening their presents under the tree.

My wife and I have been in the kitchen for several days now preparing.   This year, there is a turkey, prime rib roast, crab cakes, corn casserole, mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, a very green salad, and a homemade Rum Cake for dessert.  To go with our champagne prior to dinner will be an assortment of appetizers that include a salmon dip, mini cheese, and hash brown potato cakes, and a colorful mix of salami, prosciutto ham, cheese, grape,s and berries on skewers.  Hope you will have something similar on your celebration menu.

Like in previous years, we spend our special day cooking.   Often, I have wondered why that is so.  Is this not the day that we should be pampered as opposed to toiling over a hot range and oven?  The answer is always the same.  We enjoy every minute of it.   Hope everyone will enjoy the meal also but if any item is not as expected, it will be fine.

We are all together as a family and the family is everything.

From our home to yours, may your Christmas be warm and bright, and may you spend the day with your family and loved ones to celebrate this holiday season.   Cherish the moment together and build new memories for years to come.

Happy Holidays!
